Job Title: Board Member FirstImpact
Reporting to: Chair of the Board (Firstport's CEO)
Salary: Voluntary position, non-remunerated
Closing Date: 12 noon on 22nd April 2019.
Are you passionate that business and enterprise can play a role in supporting our communities and the environment? Are you someone who can help unlock that potential? Come join the team at Firstport as a board member of our newly formed trading subsidiary, FirstImpact.
Firstport for Social Entrepreneurs is Scotland’s leading development agency supporting start-up social enterprises and the social entrepreneurs behind them. We are a small team working in every part of Scotland, helping develop over 1100 ideas every year. Our clients come in all shapes and sizes, from individuals setting up social enterprises in small rural communities all the way to fast-paced, high growth start-ups.
FirstImpact is a trading subsidiary specifically set up with the dual aims of generating unrestricted income for the parent charity and to provide support to entrepreneurs and enterprises developing values-led businesses that don’t cleanly fit into the social enterprise model.
Over the next 18 months, we will be breathing life into a new strategy that will help us increase our capacity to support the growing interest in social entrepreneurship, whilst playing a more purposeful role in shaping the inclusive economy agenda across Scotland. This will see us expand existing activity, build flexibility across our programmes, invest in data-led decision making, develop new lines of income, and find more relevant ways of supporting social entrepreneurs from all walks of life.
We are looking for two individuals to join the board of our new trading subsidiary and compliment the skills, experience, and backgrounds of our Chair and existing board members. Specialist knowledge and/or experience in one or several of the following fields would be valuable additions to the team: Investment & Finance for scale, Values-Driven businesses, Internationalisation, Franchising.
