Firstport, Scotland’s social enterprise start-up agency is looking for two new members to join our board and compliment the skills, experience and backgrounds of our Chair and board members. We are keen that our Board is gender-balanced and diverse so that it reflects the people and communities we work with. We would also particularly like to encourage applications from people living outwith the central belt.

Board members are responsible for overseeing appropriate governance and financial management arrangements for the organisation, as well as providing strategic direction, maintaining and reviewing Firstport’s systems of internal controls, performance reporting, policies and procedures.

Ideal candidates will have strong commercial acumen and business experience, with an understanding of the challenges faced by small businesses and start-ups. We are looking for enthusiastic and confident communicators, able to build relationships and work cooperatively within a team setting. Successful individuals will share our passion for the social enterprise sector. We are keen to attract new board members with specialist knowledge and/or experience in one or several or the following fields: social policy, ideally direct experience in a particular area(s); rural communities, HR and/or Legal.
