Alternatives to Addiction – Cumnock
Profile
This initiative, managed by the Bridge Project, provides an innovative service to local primary and secondary schools, youth groups and service users. The 'Alternatives to Addiction' projects are tailored to the needs of a variety of groups and involve activities such as drama, music, dance, sport, arts & crafts and complementary therapies. The overall aim of these projects is to allow participants the opportunity to access activities, which will spark new interests or develop existing skills, allowing growth in confidence and realisation of potential. This preventative work has been linked into drug education programmes, to create a package which develops awareness of the risks associated with drugs and alcohol but which also develops the confidence of young people to make positive life choices.
