Kirkhill and Bunchrew Community Trust was set up in 1999 to encourage social, environmental and economic development in the area. Since inception several projects have been undertaken, including a local market and housing project. The local market started well and was well attended by traders and the public. However, latterly only a few traders had been taking part and a decision was made in July 2001 to suspend the market for the time being. The housing group had good success encouraging Albyn Housing into Kirkhill to provide low cost housing for locals. These houses will shortly be occupied. Other projects on the go at the moment are a footpath and a woodland project.
