Penicuik Community Arts Association began in 1977 to promote interest in, appreciation of, and participation in 'the arts'.
The cafe owns its own premises at 2 and 4 West Street, in the heart of Penicuik. Where they have a gallery, cafe, craftshop, meeting rooms and garden.
PCAA also regularly organise events in the Town Hall (Cowan Institute) and other places in Penicuik, and their own building is used by local groups like the Writers Group, Musical Society, and Bridge Club.
