Firstport

Culag Community Woodland Trust is a community-based charitable company which was set up to promote the concept of community woodlands in the local area. Its objectives are to develop forestry and woodland skills, to enhance the environment, and to provide recreation and woodland related employment. It leases the 89 acre Culag Wood (the woodlands adjacent to the harbour in Lochinver) from Assynt Estates on a 50 year lease with the option to renew. More recently it bought Little Assynt Estate (map above) on 30 November 2000. 700 hectares are under a Woodland Grant Scheme and are leased back to the sellers for 10 years.

CCWT manage the Culag Woods, located south of the harbour and the Little Assynt Estate situated 6kms East of the village.
