A group of local volunteers have formed The Boyndie Trust. They had noted the site’s potential, particularly the six acres of grounds, which included well kept water gardens, woodland walks and walled kitchen garden. After lengthy research, planning and costings an ambitious plan has been hatched. Aberdeenshire Council has been persuaded to gift the school to the Trust. It will be renovated and extended to form a superb Visitors Centre housing workshops and a retail outlet for local craft businesses, supplemented by a café. In addition, the building will provide 5000 days of work-based training per year, spread across fifty people with a range of physical and mental disabilities.
