Notes

The need to protect the Gaelic heritage of Lismore and to plan for the future sustainability of the island have stimulated local people to take on a number of projects. An old croft house in the centre of the island has been rebuilt and furnished with historical and domestic artefacts collected locally. The crofthouse provides an important focus both for visitors to the island, and for local efforts to work towards a larger project: the construction of a Gaelic Heritage Museum and community facility. Local people will be able to access learning and social facilities, while visitors can find out about the history and culture of the island.
