Profile
Based on the resposes of the local people, it has been identified that, along side concerns about drugs, housing and environmental/safety issues, there is a lack of suitable premises for the community to use in the pursuit of social, educational and recreational opportunities.
The site of Cranhill Parish Church has been identified as suitable for the development of a flexible multi-purpose community facility.
Such a development, run by and for the people of Cranhill and surrounding areas, and the wish to assist in the fostering of a growing sense of community spirit within Cranhill constitute the principle aims of the Project.
Notes
Project was set up to facilitate the provision of a multi purpose community building in Cranhill to be owned, run and managed by the community. The present church building where we are based is currently being considered for adaptation/renovation/extension. Meanwhile we have become involved in providing or arranging provision of some much needed community services. e.g. we have recently opened a community cafe and for the past four years have acted as a focal point for support to Asylum Seeker population now living in Cranhill. We work in partnership with as many other agencies as we can locate and rely totally on trust/charitable funding to support our activities, or grants from statutory funders given for specific pieces of work.
