Southend Development Group (South Uist) was established in 2001 to manage the initiative at the sedge in the Lochboisdale. With the initiative status 'moving on' in 2004 SDG hope to continue as an organisation for community development in this area. In this respect SDG sees social enterprise as an important way forward.
