Dumfries and Galloway covers 2,460 miles in the south west of Scotland and has a population of 148,000. The main industries and land use are agriculture and forestry with tourism and food production also important to the local economy. The Council has 8,500 staff and 47 elected members. The Administration is a coalition of Independent, Labour, SNP and Liberal Democrats with the Conservative Group as the Opposition. Our Corporate Plan Objectives are Inclusion; Regeneration; Lifelong Learning and Quality of Life with the overall aim 'To make Dumfries and Galloway one of the best places to live, learn work and grow up in Scotland'
