Formed in 1998 the Community Housing Advocacy Project (CHAP) is a registered charity managed by a voluntary board of directors and a service manager. CHAP provides the following services: -
Housing Advocacy which is available to all residents in North Ayrshire provides free, confidential, advice, information and advocacy support on housing and housing related issues.
Housing Support - Support workers assist vulnerable clients to sustain their tenancies. This work is carried out on a one to one basis in the clients own homes. Part of the support workers duties are to help develop the clients budgeting skills and general household duties etc.
Educational Service - CHAP provides education on homelessness to fourth year pupils at secondary schools and youth groups throughout North Ayrshire.
Volunteer Services - CHAP recruits and trains volunteers to work in the various departments. Past volunteers have gone on to secure employment within the organisation.
Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme East Ayrshire - primarily assists homeless people to obtain housing in the private rented sector by guaranteeing the required deposit for those with financial restrictions.
