Notes
PACC is part of the Lamp of Lothian Collegiate Trust and as such occupies Poldrate Granary and Mill in Haddington. It has been providing art and craft classes in Haddington for over 30 years. The Constitution requires that it support and encourage both arts and crafts throughout East Lothian. It is run by a volunteer Management Committee drawn from the membership. The committee at present numbers 10 including the Chairman, Vice-chairman and Treasurer.
The Jan. '06 timetable shows a total of 24 classes in various disciplines some of which are 'self-help' and one of which is funded by the Education Department; this is a portfolio preparation class for 5th and 6th year school pupils.
At present there are twelve tutors; all self-employed, practising artist/craftsmen and five self-help group-leaders. This is an unusually high number of group leaders and we expect to find tutors for some of these groups before the next session.
The organisation is self funding and able to operate as it does due to the generosity of the Lamp of Lothian which provides the accomodation. In effect, PACC provides the opportunity for people to improve their understanding of arts and crafts and their skill in these along with an opportunity for local craftsmen/artists to pass on their skills and knowledge.
