Bute Healthy Living Initiative – Rothesay

Profile

The Bute Healthy Living Initiative has been operating for the last 5 years funded by Big Lottery and other smaller funders. We work with the community to improve health and to tackle barriers for people to become involved with improving their own health. We are a health promoting service and are aiming to provide a service based on local needs identified by the community itself.

Notes

There are 5 main programmes: Food and Health - We operate a community cafe, a community allotment, cookery classes and healthy eating programmes and information Training and Education on lifestyle issues and practical opportunities to improve health such as a physical activities programme and a smoking cessation service Mental Health & Wellbeing: A stress management programme including complementary therapies, confidence building courses, counselling, art therapies, emotional literacy and other health improving support programmes Volunteering and training placements: We offer practical opportunities for training and becoming involved in the community Resource Centre: We are based at Longhill Community Learning & Resource Centre where we have a range of resources available such as IT access, books and other resources
