The Rural Resource Center was created in March 1997 by the Scottish Borders Rural Partnership. The Resource Centre was intended to serve as a grass-roots, community-development-service to complement the work of the existing Partners in local communities. Over the last seven years the Centre has worked with dozens of communities to foster a better quality of life in the Borders. The staff always work with and through the agencies which make up the Partnership, drawing on the expertise of these agencies notably: Scottish Borders Council, Scottish Borders Councils for Voluntary Service, Scottish Natural Heritage and others Projects have included: refurbishment and rebuilding of village halls, creation of all-weather sports centres, provision of rural community transport and a wide range of environmental and recreational improvements.
