CyberCycle was incorporated in the year 2000 to train local unemployed people in computer hardware and software. In conjunction with 'New Deal' it provides placements in computer refurbishment, repair, maintenance and recycling-enhancing the employability of trainees. As a community based enterprise, they are also in a position to offer affordable computers to low-income families, and improve social and economic inclusion in the digital age. Cybercycle request donations of obsolete computer systems from the private sector for recycling. The website also explains what basic computer systems are to help the general public and offers a guide to finding device drivers. They also recruit volunteers to share their computing skills with the long-term unemployed. Donators to CyberCycle have included Scottish Water, Midlothian Council, 10BaseCom, Loghthouse Network Solutions and the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organstians.
