Laggan Forest Trust – Newtonmore
Profile
The Laggan Forestry Initiative is a sub-committee of the Laggan Community Association, which is involved in a process of negotiating greater involvement in the management of the 3000 acre Strathmashie Forest. The Initiative has aspirations to purchase the forest but these have been put aside in favour of a partnership arrangement with Forest Enterprise. The aims of the Initiative are to improve employment opportunities for the local community, to enhance the environment, to act as a catalyst for other community projects and to help other communities similar to Laggan.
