Tweeddale Association of Voluntary Organisations is a Council for Voluntary Service working with the voluntary sector in Tweeddale. It manages the Volunteer Resource Centre in Peebles which provides office accommodation for staff from Volunteer Centre Tweeddale, Scottish Borders Rural Partnership, Interest Link and the Scottish Association for Mental Health as well as TAVO staff. The Volunteer Resource Centre also provides meeting rooms, clerical services and the shared use of equipment for the wider voluntary sector. TAVO staff are able to provide advice and information on the running of a voluntary organisation – in particular, funding and constitutional advice - and they work with community activists to research the need for, and encourage the setting up of, new organisations. A Christmas market is organised each year and a quarterly newsletter is produced. In addition to core activities of a CVS, TAVO manages a Thrift Shop in Innerleithen and a community transport project which operates two vehicles – a 15 seater wheelchair accessible community minibus and a smaller vehicle which has been adapted to carry two wheelchairs and can be booked by individuals who cannot use ordinary transport.
