Profile
Ormlie Community Association was formed in 1997 when a number of local residents rallied together to campaign against the dangerous condition of the play areas in the estate.
Notes
Ormlie Community Association was set up in late November 1997 to address the social, economic and environmental issues on an estate which had been stigmatised by years of neglect and lack of investment. An enormous amount of work has gone into the Ormlie Regeneration project and to date OCA has secured funding for a state-of-the-art sports and playfacility, new community centre, a range of environmental projects and a huge Home Zone initiative. Save the Children in Scotland ran a pilot Community Partners Programme for a 4 year period and since the end of the project, OCA have taken over the management of the scheme and are currently advertising for a Co-ordinator to run the programme.
OCA has been very involved in a range of diverse arts projects for the local community and many have had national press.
The organisation is very aware that it cannot rely solely on grant aid therefore is investigating a range of renewable energy projects. Funding is currently being secured for a Renewable Energy project manager to lead the project for a 3 year period.
