The Trust was formed to take forward a programme of community renewal and is focussed on the preservation and re-use of redundant buildings throughout the town and developing projects that are based around the arts and culture.
Our first project aims to re-establish the Glen Cinema through a series of cultural and arts events. The first event was an exhibition called ‘Cinema Buddies’, held to commemorate the 71 young lives that were lost in tragic circumstances in the cinema on Hogmanay 1929.
Longer term, our intention is to establish, in Paisley, a Scottish Cinema and Film heritage centre. We don’t just see this centre as a museum, it would ideally placed to provide training in film making and perhaps even to offer studio space to young film makers and rehearsal and performance space for arts groups and artists.
