SFE was founded in 1986 as a private sector body to promote the interests of the financial services sector in Scotland. Its activities include political lobbying in Scotland, London and in Brussels, public relations and the dissemination of information about the sector.
Its membership includes all the leading groups in the sector - banks, life and pensions companies, investment managers, investment operations companies, corporate finance and venture capital groups, corporate lawyers and accountants, as well as support services, such as, IT and communications companies and media.
