Scottish Churches House is a conference centre founded in 1960 as 'a place that the churches hold in common, and from which they develop their ministry and mission together'. This ecumenical 'intention' remains its purpose today.
The House Programme includes: retreats of various kinds:
church, inter-church and inter-faith meetings
conferences and consultations
music and poetry
painting, walking and senior citizens' holidays
workcamps and foreign volunteers.
The House is also used by a variety of secular organisations and church groups for their own conferences, events and courses, as well as being available to individual guests for retreats and holidays. Details on the website.
The conference hall and dining room can each accommodate 80 people. Several other well appointed meeting rooms cater for different requirements. The House has a total of 21 twin bedrooms and 8 single rooms. In the gardens which rise behind is a beautiful small 16th century chapel.
