Notes
Councils of Voluntary Service (CVS) is the generic name for the local infrastructure bodies for the voluntary sector in Scotland.
They strengthen the contribution local voluntary organisations make to the economic, social and cultural development of the community and provide a bridge between the sector and key public agencies at a local level.
There are 4 CVS throughout Dumfries & Galloway and they are themselves voluntary organisations which draw their membership from voluntary an community groups in their own area. The following 3 CVS form the Federation: Annandale & Eskdale (AECVS), Nithsdale (NCVS) and Wigtown (WCVS). The range of services they provide is vast.
The Federation does not provide direct servics to groups but carries out a co-ordinating role for the work of the 3 CVS and provides regional representation within Dumfries & Galloway.
