Funding priorities for our Awards Programme

17th January 2012

Posted by Firstport Staff

We have introduced some new funding priorities due to the high volume of applications

Firstport offers a range of funds to help turn your ideas into reality. In partnership with Scotland UnLtd we run a joint awards programme to provide funds to over 100 new start ups focused on delivering real social or environmental benefits to people and communities.

Anyone can benefit from our funding, however, due to the high volume of applications we prioritise:

• Individuals from geographical areas that are under-represented (Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Angus, West & East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Falkirk, Inverclyde, Midlothian, Moray, Orkney & the Western Isles)

• Ideas with a clear enterprise element that can demonstrate strong potential to generate income in addition to delivering high social benefits

• Individuals from or ideas that benefit black, minority and ethnic communities

• Individuals who have never had an award before

You do not have to meet all our priorities to apply but the more you do, the stronger your application will be.

We receive lots of applications from arts projects and have funded a wide range of ideas using art.  If your idea involves using art you must clearly demonstrate it is in response to an identified need, it is a new idea and there are direct benefits to the wider community.
