Paul Zealey is a founding director of pza and leads on its policy and practice work. For ten years, Paul has been senior consultant specialising in employability, community regeneration and the third sector.
From 1998-2000 Paul was a full time consultant to the Scottish Enterprise Network, based with Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, advising on mainstreaming economic inclusion, including business development support services for the social economy.
Paul was National Officer (chief executive officer) for CSV Scotland from 1994-1998. CSV was established to help young people maximise their potential and under his leadership the organisation grew to become one of Scotland’s major third sector organisations with a multi-million pound annual income, and a diverse portfolio of projects creating volunteering opportunities, employment and active, sustainable communities. CSV Scotland’s clients included long term unemployed, disabled, ex-offenders, people with mental health problems, homeless people and older people, and projects won awards from the European Commission and Scottish Qualifications Agency for Equal Opportunities and Best Practice.
Paul was a member of the Scottish Social Inclusion Network Action Teams and Childcare and Early Years Forum, advising ministers on the implementation of the national social justice and childcare strategies respectively.
Paul’s recent experience includes external examiner for the MSc in Urban Development at the University of Strathclyde, member of the Scotland committee for the Community Fund and Big Lottery Fund and non-executive director of SCVO, Volunteer Development Scotland and Scottish Screen. He is currently a volunteer director of the Glasgow Film Theatre and Glasgow Building Preservation Trust and a committee member of the Women’s Fund for Scotland.
