Rising stars of Scottish social innovation to be announced at Social Enterprise World Forum

The winners of this year’s Social Innovation Competition are to be unveiled on a global stage at the Social Enterprise World Forum this September.

Since the first Social Enterprise World Forum was held in Edinburgh in 2008, social enterprises around the world have transformed lives, revitalised communities and tackled big economic issues. Returning to the capital ten years later, the 2018 Forum will focus on ‘Inspiring a new decade of impact’.

The award presentation will internationally showcase the rising stars of social innovation in Scotland, including the winner of the Young Social Innovator award.

Previous winners of the competition include: Jennifer Macdonald from Woodside Arran; Tom Binns from Pianos on Prescription; and Laura Petruskeviciute and Cristian Suau with DOT-TO-DOT.

Supporting Scotland’s Year of Young People, the Social Innovation Competition 2018 is looking for innovative ideas and solutions to the challenges affecting those aged between 8 and 26. This could be through giving them access to new opportunities, helping them to overcome barriers and inequalities, or improving their quality of life.

Interested in applying? Get your application in before 30 July 2018 to be in with a chance to win £5000 plus tailored business support to develop your idea.
