Firstport leads the way on flexible working with new workplace accreditation

We are delighted to announce that Firstport has become one of the first organisations in the UK to achieve Flexible Workplace Accreditation, recognising employers that make flexible working work in practice.

Launched by Flexibility Works, leading experts on flexible working, the accreditation provides independent recognition for organisations where flexible working is embedded in culture, leadership and everyday practice, not just written into policy.

The accreditation is awarded following an independent assessment that includes employee feedback, leadership insight and a review of workplace practices. Achieving this accreditation demonstrates our commitment to creating a workplace where people can do their best work while enjoying life outside work.

As part of the accreditation report, Flexibility Works highlighted Firstport’s “exceptionally strong cultural commitment to flexible working”. We also achieved an “Excellent” score in six of the 10 elements of the accreditation framework, a rating reserved for organisations that are considered “trailblazers” in flexible working.

Across interviews, focus groups and document reviews, flexibility emerged not as a standalone policy but as a core and integrated part of our identity. The principles of trust, autonomy and responsibility are consistently reflected in the behaviours of our leadership team, our written materials and the employee experience.

Gael Drummond, Chief Executive of Firstport, said:

“Achieving Flexible Workplace Accreditation is a fantastic achievement that we are very proud of. We have worked hard to build a flexible culture based on autonomy, responsibility and trust, and it is rewarding to see that culture reflected so strongly in the assessment results.

We know that flexible working has a positive impact on both our people and our organisation. It helps us attract and retain talent, supports employee wellbeing, and enables colleagues to balance caring and personal responsibilities. We would strongly encourage other organisations to embrace the benefits of flexible working too.

Lisa Gallagher, Co-founder of Flexibility Works, said:

“Congratulations to Firstport on becoming one of the first organisations to achieve Flexible Workplace Accreditation. This is a significant achievement and one to be proud of. Flexible working isn’t just life-changing for individuals; it also brings real benefits for organisations, from engagement to productivity. We hope you will display your badge with pride, as a mark of your commitment to making flexible working work in practice.

“Our goal is for this accreditation to become the leading benchmark that organisations aspire to, recognising how you support your people to do their best work while enjoying life outside of it. Thank you for leading the way.”
