After a rigorous assessment process, Firstport has been awarded the Investors in Diversity for Small Charities accreditation.

The Investors in Diversity Awards are recognised as the national equality standard and the Small Charities Award is a framework designed to help charities like Firstport to review their current FREDIE (Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement) practices and plan for further development and improvements.

This award is one more step on the journey Firstport embarked on at the end of 2019 when it committed to putting Diversity and Inclusion first.

Investors in Diversity go through an independent process that reviews how their practices stack up against the Investors in Diversity Standards and are verified to meet or exceed those standards. Besides, results are analyzed and benchmarked against the data of over 200 other organisations, from across sectors and sizes.

The accreditation also means that organisations commit to continue this journey, building upon successes and creating a culture of continuous improvement concerning fairness, respect, equality, diversity, inclusion and engagement.

We are delighted that Firstport has achieved the Investors in Diversity Award for Small Charities, and I would like to extend our congratulations to their leaders, staff and service users on their success to date.

Achievement of the Investors in Diversity Award for Small Charities demonstrates that an organisation has not only committed to building a culture of fairness, respect, equality, diversity, inclusion and engagement (FREDIE), it also shows that it can evidence this.

Solat Chaudhry, Chief Executive of the National Centre for Diversity,

Gaining accreditation is a huge pat on the back for the whole team, and it reflects all the hard work we’ve put in for the last 18 months.

We hope that by achieving this standard we send a positive message to all our clients, suppliers, and partners that we are committed to ensuring diversity and inclusion continues to get the profile and scrutiny it deserves, in our organisation and the social enterprise sector more widely.

Josiah Lockhart, Chief Executive of Firstport
