Our responsibilities in action

At Firstport, we are constantly striving to work in sustainable, responsible and inclusive ways. Here are just a few of the policies and actions helping to keep us on track – embedding fairness, diversity and inclusion across our business.

Disability Confident Committed

As a Disability Confident Committed Employer we have committed to:

  • ensuring our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible when communicating and promoting vacancies
  • offering an interview to disabled people who meet the minimum criteria for the job
  • anticipating and meeting accessibility requirements
  • supporting team members who acquire a disability or long-term health condition, enabling them to stay in work
  • at least one activity that will make a difference for disabled people

Diversity and Inclusion

We’re embedding diversity and inclusion (D&I) into everything we do – ensuring fairness and representation are at the heart of our work, so every voice in our network is heard and valued.

Since 2020, our D&I working group has formalised our commitments. In 2024, our new D&I framework provided a clear roadmap for action, strengthening recruitment, communication, and training.

So far, we have:

Our work has been recognised by the National Centre for Diversity through an Investors in Diversity accreditation (2021, 2023, 2025) and as a Top 100 Most Inclusive Workplace (2022, 2023, 2025).

In 2024, we also produced the Access Report with Dechomai and Social Investment Scotland, highlighting barriers ethnic minority social entrepreneurs face to investment.

Living Wage Accreditation

Firstport are proud to be accredited as a real living wage employer. This accreditation celebrates Firstport’s commitment to go further than the minimal wage, and pay staff a fair and liveable wage.

Scottish Business Pledge

Firstport are proud Scottish Business Pledge partners. By making this pledge Firstport demonstrate that we pay the real living wage, do not use zero-hour contracts, and are actively combatting the gender pay gap. We have also made commitments to the following elements of the pledge:

  • Community support
  • Environmental impact
  • Innovation
  • Investing in a skilled and diverse workforce
  • Prompt payment
  • Workforce engagement

The pledge is reviewed on an annual basis, where we assess our progress and ensure we are meeting all standards necessary to demonstrate our commitment to a more sustainable and ethical way of business.
