Firstport Staff and Board Diversity survey results 2023

Continuing our commitment to putting Diversity and Inclusion front and centre of our work, we recently undertook our annual survey to examine how diverse our staff and board are.

In total, we received 25 responses. The rate of staff who responded was 52%, while the Board made up 48%, making it a relatively even response rate across the organisation.

The results show that there have been several changes to the diversity of both the staff and Board, reflecting staff changes over the past year. It is important to consider that although we had a good number of responses, this does not make up 100% of our workforce. Nevertheless, improvements can be made, and we will ensure that this topic is covered in our Diversity and Inclusion working group.

The main outcomes were:

The age range of staff is more wide-ranging this year than in 2022. In 2023 staff in the 50-59 category make up 23.08%, and in the 60-69 category they make up 15.38%, whereas, in 2022, 6.3% of staff were in the 50-59 or 60-69 categories
Fewer people identify as non-religious than in 2022, with 30.77% identifying as Christian compared to 12.5% in 2022
Last year women made up 81.3% of staff; this year, there was a drop to 69.23%. The Board is also now made up of more men than women, with the rate of women being 41.67%, another change from 2022
Another significant difference was in the sexuality category, where 92.31% of staff identify as heterosexual in 2023 compared to 68.8% in 2022
Our staff are more ethnically diverse than in 2022, but there is a less ethnically diverse Board than in 2022
There has been a small percentage increase in staff identifying as having a disability since 2022
