Welcome to our new website!

It’s a new year and a new look for Firstport.

Hello and first of all, thank you for visiting our website!

If you have been trying to access the website over the last few days and were unable to do so, we would like to apologise. A big system glitch in our previous website left us without a web presence for almost a week over the new year period- not a great start of the year.

Every cloud has a silver lining though- we’ve been working on this new website for months and thankfully it was pretty much there!

We planned to launch it towards the end of last year but we kept postponing it until it was 100% ready and we were 100% happy with it. But sometimes things don’t go according to plan, so here we are: with a new website which is not 100% ready, but we are happy and excited to share it with you.

So, why a new website?

Apart from the obvious desire to refresh our look (the last time we made big changes to our website was 2015), we wanted to:

  • Provide new and returning visitors with a better experience – Information that is clear and concise and easy to find, a more intuitive navigation flow, etc. One of the key ways we are doing this is by introducing our quiz, which will guide you to the support and funding that is more relevant to you, depending on the stage you are at (i.e. idea stage, looking to grow, etc,.)
  • More visual inspiration – we know that seeing and reading from people who have ‘”been there and done it” can help others to pursue their ideas, so we have a lot more imagery across the website, most of them of social entrepreneurs we have helped in their journey. We are still uploading case studies (in case you are wondering why there are so few currently), so more inspiring stories to come!
  • We want to be more accessible. Firstport is putting inclusion and diversity first in 2020 (you can read more about this here) and the website plays a part in this of course. We worked with our designers to ensure this new website followed WCAG 2.1 principles and over the coming weeks, we plan to enlist some of our existing clients to help us test the website to identify further improvements.

So welcome again, have a browse, bear with us if you find a rather empty section and let us know what you think!
