Social Enterprise Code

The Voluntary Code of Practice for Social Enterprise in Scotland sets the boundary between social enterprise and the private sector. Most social enterprises in Scotland fall within the parameters of the Code.

In Scotland, there is no single definition of a social enterprise. However, the Scottish social enterprise community has set down the values and behaviours by which they recognise each other. This creates the voluntary code of practice – a document that recognises five basic criteria for social enterprise.
